• Waste oil generated from the normal use of lubricating oil that has been subjected to a recycling fee according to Act No. 162/2002 with subsequent amendments. Waste oil resulting from the regular use of heavy oil shall be subject to a recycling fee in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 8 of Act No. 162/2002 on recycling fees but is exempt from charge under paragraph 3 of the same article, defined by the customs tariff number: 2710-1940.

  Services not covered by these reception terms are not free of charge, and the receiving party will charge a fee for them to the submitting party. Foreign ships entitled to a refund of the recycling fee based on the refund provision in Article 10 of Act 162/2002 on recycling fees are not entitled

The oil waste must be pumpable and not contain other substances than those resulting from the normal use of the oil. The oil waste must not contain solvents, thinners, or other undefined substances or chemical products, e.g., ammonia.

The oil waste must not contain more of the following substances than:

• Cadmium: < 5 mg/kg

• Mercury: < 0.5 mg/kg

• Lead: < 25 ---

• Chromium: < 50 --

• Nickel: < 5 ---

• PCB: < 5 ---

• Halogens: < 150---

• Sulfur*: < 5,000---

• Arsenic: < 5 ---

• Manganese: < 5 ---

• Thallium: < 5 ---

• Antimony: < 5 ---

• Cobalt: < 5 ---

• Copper: < 40 ---

• Vanadium: < 200 ---

However, waste heavy oil may contain the same sulfur content as the permitted limits for heavy oil intended for use in ships and boats operated in Iceland and within Iceland's pollution jurisdiction according to Regulation 124/2015 with subsequent amendments.

The recipient accepts oil waste from ships on working days from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Reception must be booked by 4:00 PM two working days before the oil waste is delivered. For example, by 4:00 PM on Monday for a Wednesday reception or by 4:00 PM on Friday for a Tuesday reception.

The recipient accepts oil waste from land-based deliverers on organized collection days in each region.

Reception must be booked by 4:00 PM, two working days before the scheduled collection time in the respective area. For instance, by 4:00 PM on Thursday if the collection time is in the following week. When booking a reception, the estimated amount and the type of oil waste should be specified.

The deliverer should always try to give as much notice as possible on the service request so that their collection can be combined with others.

The recipient is not responsible for any damage due to deviations from the aforementioned time limits.

4. The minimum amount of oil waste that the recipient collects from the deliverer is 400 liters. Municipalities and ports are exempt from this provision. Oil waste is collected from them at least once a year, regardless of the amount.

5. Upon receipt, the recipient and the deliverer must fill out a reception note, which includes information about the quantity, content, and origin, along with the deliverer's confirmation that no prohibited substances are in the waste oil. Both parties confirm the note with a signature. The deliverer receives a copy of the reception note.

6. If there is doubt about the chemical content of the oil waste, the recipient can refuse receipt and demand a chemical analysis to confirm that the oil waste meets the content requirements.

7. The recipient accepts oil waste from ship oil waste tanks and deliverers on land. However, land-based deliverers are allowed to accumulate waste oil in 200-liter drums, which the recipient empties on-site.

8. The recipient accepts oil waste from ships at the ship's side at an accessible location. There must be good access to a spout above deck, and the ship must pump the oil waste from onboard. The pump capacity should be at least 40 liters/minute.

9. For land-based deliverers, there should be good access to an oil waste tank or a spout on a pipeline from it, and it should be no more than 10 meters away from a parking area accessible to the recipient. If there is no oil waste tank, the waste oil should be in 200-liter drums placed at an accessible location.

10. The recipient must be notified if the oil waste is hotter than 50°C. The maximum temperature for oil waste is 75°C.

11. The water content in the oil waste should reflect good practice. The maximum amount of water in received oil waste is 15% from land-based deliverers and 30% from ships. Samples are taken at receipt from the deliverer to confirm the water content for the basis of charging for excess water.

12. Complaints regarding the service should be reported to the recipient in writing.
